The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has recently updated its sanctions lists, adding several individuals and entities to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List. These designations are aimed at countering terrorism, enforcing economic sanctions, and disrupting the activities of those who support or engage in these illicit activities.

A total of 7 individuals and 4 entities from 5 countries have been added to the SDN List. The countries represented are:

  • Syria (2 individuals)
  • Haiti (2 individuals)
  • Turkey (1 individual and 1 entity)
  • Marshall Islands (1 entity)
  • China (1 entity)

The added entities are:

  • DRAGON ROAD LTD, a Marshall Islands-based company
  • ORYX DENIZCILIK LIMITED SIRKETI, a Turkey-based company
  • STAR OCEAN SHIPMANAGE LTD, a China-based company
  • TAI FENG HAI SHIPPING LIMITED, a Hong Kong-based company

Additionally, 9 vessels have been added to the SDN List, all of which are flagged in Panama or Sao Tome and Principe. These vessels are linked to the designated individuals and entities, and their operations are subject to U.S. sanctions.

These latest designations and additions are part of OFAC’s ongoing efforts to disrupt and deter illegal activities, including terrorism, money laundering, and other financial crimes.
